Moves, renames and deletions are not reversible inside the app. Move to Trash goes to the Trash; a move between folders is simply done.
Public beta · Verified builds
Unfinished.
Not unsigned.
Every Finder++ beta is Developer ID signed, Apple notarized, published at a versioned URL that never serves different bytes, and listed with the SHA-256 you can check yourself. The build is early; the way it reaches you is not.
Before you install it
What you are agreeing to.
The full list is on the product page. These are the three that matter while the file is downloading.
When a name already exists at the destination, that item is skipped and stays pending rather than replacing what is there.
A folder you have a backup of, or a copy of a project. Not the one copy of anything, and not while it is still a beta.
Linelark Finder++
The file browser on this page. Native views, an embedded terminal, and Claude Code and Codex in the folder you are browsing. Public beta.
Download the betaLinelark Notepad
The editor. A lightweight native text and code editor for Mac, out of beta and always free. Installing one does not affect the other.

Older betas stay available.
Newest first. Each link goes through an anonymous download counter to a file that never changes.
Install
Three steps.
- Download the versioned DMG.
- Open it and drag Linelark Finder++ into Applications.
- Launch it from Applications or Spotlight. Apple’s notarization ticket is stapled to the image, so there is no right-click-to-open dance and no security warning to click past.
The first time you open a folder macOS protects — Desktop, Documents, Downloads — the system asks whether to allow it. That prompt is macOS, not the app, and declining it only hides that folder.

Before downloading.
Is this the same app as Linelark Notepad?+
No. Finder++ is a separate application with its own download, its own version numbers and its own bundle. Installing it does not change, update or interfere with the editor, and removing it does not affect the editor either.
Is it free?+
Yes, and free throughout the beta. There is no account, no subscription and no paid tier to sign up for.
Do I need Claude Code or Codex for it to work?+
No. They are one panel in a right-hand dock. The file browser and the terminal work whether or not those commands are installed, and the dock simply runs whichever of them it finds on your Mac, under your own account.
Does it update itself?+
Not yet. Check this page or the product page, download the newer DMG and replace the app in Applications.
Will it take over from Finder?+
No. It is an app you open when you want it. macOS keeps handing the Desktop, double-clicks and everything else to Finder.
What happens to my files if it crashes mid-move?+
Files are moved one at a time and nothing at the destination is ever overwritten. A crash leaves the items it had not reached where they were. There is no undo, so keep a backup of anything you would mind losing.
Running it is half the contribution. The other half is telling us what broke — send a test report with your macOS version, your Mac, the steps and what happened instead.
