The macOS applications
Linelark Notepad and Linelark Notepad Studio do not require an account. Document contents, filenames, opened folder paths, terminal commands, terminal history, and editor activity are processed locally on your Mac and are not transmitted to Linelark.
The applications do not include advertising SDKs or Linelark-operated analytics at launch. Apple may process App Store downloads, purchases, diagnostics, or crash information under Apple’s own terms and the choices available in your device settings.
Information you choose to send
When you submit a support request, we receive the name, email address, edition, request category, subject, message, and any app or macOS version you choose to provide. We use it to answer the request, diagnose reported problems, improve the product, prevent abuse, and keep a record of important support decisions.
If you join the Mac App Store waitlist, we store your email address, the page where you joined, and the time and version of your consent. We use it only to send the requested launch notification.
When you send feedback or a testimonial, we store your name, email, heading, message, and the optional public role you provide. Feedback remains private. A testimonial is published only when you explicitly permit publication and Linelark approves it; the public version includes only the chosen public name, optional role, heading, message, and rating—not your email address.
Do not include passwords, access tokens, terminal secrets, sensitive document contents, or personal information that is not needed to understand the request.
Website and server information
Cloudflare provides website hosting, security, and the D1 database. Its infrastructure may process standard request information such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, timestamps, and security signals to deliver the website and prevent abuse under Cloudflare’s service terms.
To understand whether the site is useful, Linelark stores only daily aggregate counts for site arrivals, page views, calls-to-action, Studio and plugin download clicks, completed forms, plugin-contribution steps, playground steps, and returns through Linelark’s own shared links. A site arrival means a request with no referrer or a referrer outside linelark.com; the Worker checks only whether the referrer is same-site and does not store it. Pages, actions, and shared-link sources come from short fixed allowlists; arbitrary values are rejected. The counts contain a UTC date, page, action or source label, and total; they do not contain an IP address, cookie, session or visitor identifier, referrer URL, user agent, or browser fingerprint. They are request totals—not unique people—and may include previews, reloads, repeat visits, automated traffic, or requests affected by privacy tools. We do not use advertising or behavioral profiling.
Backing a roadmap item on the contribute page adds one to that day’s aggregate count for the item. To limit one vote per item, per network, each day, Linelark also stores a one-way SHA-256 key over a secret we do not publish, the UTC date, the item, and the requesting IP address. The address itself is not stored, the key cannot be reversed to an address without the secret, and the date inside it means keys from different days cannot be linked to each other. These rows contain no cookie, session, or visitor identifier, are used only to recognise a repeat click, and are deleted after 30 days.
Cookies and local storage
The public Linelark website sets no cookies. Its only use of browser local storage is on the contribute page, which records in your own browser which roadmap items you have backed, so the buttons show it. That list never leaves your device, is not readable by Linelark, and clearing site data removes it. The private owner-only review page sets one strictly necessary, secure session cookie after a correct email code is entered; it contains a random session token, is not available to browser scripts, and expires after 12 hours or when the owner signs out.
No cookie is used for advertising, profiling, or visitor analytics, so the public site does not display a cookie-consent banner. If non-essential storage is introduced, this notice and the consent experience will be updated before it is enabled where consent is required.
Legal basis and retention
We process support and feedback information to respond to requests and on the basis of our legitimate interests in providing, securing, and improving Linelark. The waitlist and publication of a testimonial are based on the consent you give; you may withdraw either consent at any time by contacting us.
Support and private feedback records are normally retained for up to 12 months after closure, unless a longer period is required for a recurring technical, security, or legal matter. Waitlist records are retained until the launch notification is complete, you withdraw consent, or the waitlist is abandoned. Approved testimonials remain published until they are withdrawn, no longer relevant, or you ask us to remove them. Aggregate site counts do not identify visitors and may be retained to compare product interest over time. Roadmap vote keys exist only to enforce the one-vote-per-day limit and are deleted after 30 days.
Service providers and transfers
We use Cloudflare for hosting, security, database storage, and destination-restricted email delivery. Cloudflare may process information only to provide those services under its contractual and legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
If information is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we use an applicable legal transfer mechanism and safeguards required by data-protection law.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or complain to your local data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Changes and contact
Linelark is operated by Calogero Cascio. We will revise this notice if the products, providers, or data practices change. Material changes will be identified by a new effective date. Privacy questions, consent withdrawals, and rights requests can be sent through the support form or directly to privacy@linelark.com.
